The Start Up

Character Creation

Having just gone through the character creator for the first time in the last decade, I like it a lot - Instead of just seeing a basic history of the Empire your choose through very minimal lore, you can see what the ships are designed around for their bonuses for the most part. Good job CCP on this one, it really makes it feel like you're educated and prepared to make the choice rather than it feeling random. I decided to go with Amarr because I want to start my journey in Amarr space and don't really want to the take the 45 jump journey from Jita to Amarr, otherwise I would have choosen Caldari like I had for all other characters I've created, mainly because missiles and shields take so much less brain power to operate through missions. Ulimately not something that will matter as after starter missions I'm planning on just sitting in stations updating orders occasionally. Also - let me talk about the NPE.. they have an awesome video to get you up to speed on what a capsuleer is, and it was well done on the cinematics and story, CCP doing it right with videos again (Looks at the Scope Videos).

Beginning Missions

Okay, so playing the first few minutes coming out of the exploding cloning facility, this is incredible, remembering the 2011 - 2015 years that I would spin up a character the NPE was simply awful, this was a huge improvement by CCP and I'm happy that they focused on it for the new people coming into the game, the perspective of it as well makes it feel like your in the abyssal space so it feels much more intimate and like you're in the action rather than they typical orbital camera mode that you'll have in the full time game. First mission was pretty fun, learning all about the guns, afterburner, webbing, and using ECM, second one being the mining mission of the group... story behind it is interesting... activity still needs work after a decade it's largely unchanged, and ultimately is a lock, activate, sit and watch, I'm personally not a huge fan of just time sinks like this, but I also don't really have a solution to make mining more engaging. Now time to do more missions while the black box is being decoded? Not sure how long this is going to take, but I went down the choices offered and went into the Industrialist AIR mission tree, I'll complete a few of these if it doesn't trigger the main story I'll probably just go ahead and get started on making my fortune by flipping items.

"Making Mountains of Molehills"

Part 1 of 10
Welp... maybe should have picked another lane, more mining... This mission is to mine 1,000 units of Veldspar, not the end of the world but not ideal for my time sink mentality as stated before, but it's easy and can step away for the morning coffee and breakfast while it's set to orbit and mine.

Rewards:
253,000 ISK and a Time Bonus of 205,000 ISK
Not to bad for doing basically nothing.

Part 2 of 10
Now I'm being asked to bring 100 Tritanium to the station I'm working out of, so back to the ole asteroid belts and time to pick up some veldspar, the rewards on this one though is pretty nice, looks like I'll get a Venture and 275,000 ISK (thought comes to mind of a reddit post I read once of someone trading up a pen or something into a house, 🤔 maybe start from there...) You know.. I like the idea.. "From Venture I traded up to being an Eve Trillionaire" yup we're doing it, for a number of reason, 1. it sounds like a heck of a lot of fun, 2. eve online missions REAAAALLLY need to be revamped, as they're solved, they're not super engaging and they feel very tedious when you can be making a lot more money in different ways that fill you're bucket.

Balances and Starting Resources

Alright - So plans changed.. if you're wanting the end of the NPE, you'll need to spin up a character and have the patience to do it yourself.. Now comes the time for what I'm most excited about, trading and making money. First and for most we need to ensure there is a baseline of my assets and where I'm at in the journey.

Starting Inventory and Cash:
Current Liquid Assets - $1,314,627
Current Assets - 1 Venture ($361,000 Est Value).

First things first, I'll be placing my venture up for sell and start looking for other items that have a decent margin for me to flip along with enough velocity to ensure I'm not just leaving orders out there with a 3% broker fee, and another 8% to sell it back, so I'm needing at least items in the 20% range in order to make decent money. I'm going to get to work and will have an update after I've got some more money moving around.

From Alpha to Omega: A Capsuleer's Odyssey to EVE Trillionaire Status

Starting from the humble beginnings of an EVE Online alpha trader, join me on the journey towards becoming an EVE Trillionaire. Inspired by the markertsforISK blog, I'm embarking on this adventure to share every step of the way. It won't be a swift or glamorous ride, but one filled with honest toil and genuine delight as I personally am fascinated by the financial industries. So, let's dive in together and enjoy the journey of playing EVE Online! Here's the roadmap...      First and foremost, I need to spin up a new character - I'm probably going to name it very similar to the blog for continuity's sake in my brain. From there I'll finish up the NPE (New Player Experience) Missions and will have what seed capital I will for getting the journey start ahead. From there the plan is to start with some day trading some high ISK velocity items to attempt to rotate the capital through as quickly as possible for quick growth of initial funds, after achieving ...

April '24 Review

April Opening Statement         The time I've had in April to dedicate to sitting down and looking through and updating orders was a little more limited than what I had originally thought I was going to have, however, I still did find some time at least once or twice a week to come through and look at things to day trade and make a few ISK on top for the trouble.     As I had stated, I have decided to focus on the Amarr trade hub as I don't have time with real-life - life and a job to dedicate to micromanaging the orders in a larger hub like Jita, so I've decided to focus on consumables such as charges, ammo, drones, and the like. The margins aren't huge, especially with the limited skills of an Alpha character. Still, I have managed to turn a small profit with somewhere in the neighborhood of 5 - 10 minutes of looking at items to get into and updating any open orders I have, this is probably happening in a good week at a rate of 2 or 3 times a ...
